@Justin & @ Derek

Thanks.

I too must apologize again, it was probably not wise of me to "come out of nowhere" and start pointing out my observations, and not expect tensions to rise.

But the fact is I have actually been subscribed to this blog for ages now, a couple months before the first podcast (don't remember the exact dates). And as an South African Internet Marketer myself, I just expected that sharing my observations based on that, would be taken at face value.

I guess this was just a wake up call, that this is not a forum, but a blog, and should be treated as such.

Anyway, all friends now, next... Lets move on. :)

John I am the first to appologise...in my hast to read and digest all that was said i think that I just get angry at a few of the coments...as I know and experience the truth of what justin has to offer.

I am living proof that his online marketing strategy works.

@ Derek, I have to come to the defence of @ John Gore, I think you might have caught the tail end of this conversation and missed his positive and constructive input on the latest post about Dale's interview.

I also thought he was a little on the negative side at first, but I think without a doubt he has proven himself to be a positive member with constructive input to share.

Thanks @ John Gore.

Well, that is your opinion, and you are entitled to it.

Others will read what I said, and taken it at face value, not tried to read deep into it, and they know what I said is factual, and useful, and NOT negative.

Try this: Go a read the page above, and the other page (link I just gave you), but this time --- read ONLY what I actually said ---

Ignore what others said, while they tried to interpret what I said as negative.

If you read only MY words, you will see that I was not being negative, I merely pointed out some things I have observed.

However, if you read all the comments, including all the comments of people that tried to INTERPRET what they THOUGHT I was saying, then what THEY say make it look like I was being negative.

Thats why I eventually had to tell some to go jump, because clearly they could not see past their OWN interperation of what I said, so could not see what I was ACTUALLY saying was in fact useful to them.

John I have read a few comments that just sound like you are being negative and full of it. If this is not the case I recomend that you go back and read what you are said all over Justin's site...if you are not on the attack then maybe I am wrong here...read all your comments and you tell me...so that is where it comes from...

"In fact John you say you are not wanting to fight but all I read is crap from you... do me a favour and just go away and talk negative crap where people like you get together. We do not need you!!!!"

Wow, where did that come from?

Have you even READ my posts?

My point was really quite simple, and factual, and HELPFUL to everyone. I did not insult you, or the program, or ANYONE else here! There is no need to be throwing insults around about it.

Here it is again, for those who missed the POINT of what I was saying:

"What I’m saying is that if you want to REALLY learn from him don’t just LISTEN to what he tells you, but also OBSERVE what HE IS DOING, and follow / plan accordingly.

Good luck to you all (busy downloading the last few podcasts. In podcast 20 Justin says “it has never been my intention to motorize the online marketing industry”… well, oops. But great to know you can make R4mill without trying! Kudos again! )"

--- and NO , I'm not being sarcastic there. I really think its great that you can make money even when you are not ACTIVELY TRYING TO. Its a sign that you are really great at this! ---

Perhaps you should read the comments on this other page too before you jump to insulting people...

Apologies accepted. Now lets move on please...

Here is some straight talk for you.

Since my course with Justin I have now a great little income and employ one full time staff member already. I have been awared other contracts which are very lucritive and if the growth keeps the direction its going, I will be a 6 figure earner per month in the next 4 months. So if you doubt the validity of what the course is about then simple please do not do it so I can out rank you in areas we compete in.

John tell me what have you done to help others earn a great income? Are you one of those that just sit on a fence and bitch about what you do not know about. You may have done courses before and must also be one of those that does not follow through.

In fact John you say you are not wanting to fight but all I read is crap from you...do me a favour and just go away and talk negative crap where people like you get together.

Hi Guys, I thought I would quickly jump into the tail end of this conversation, I have so much to fill you all in on, and I don’t think this page has enough space, so I will try to tackle some points very quickly.

1)	It has never been my intention to monetise the IM space, I started out doing everything for free (not to gain followers but to help local businesses), I even ran a crash course in Durban and distributed DVD’s to people all at my expense (over 250K) only to find myself in a position where everyone expected my time for free and literally swamped me with certain expectations.

2)	My Split Test Master Guide was also free initially and then I decided to put a price to it simply to remove the all the freeloaders it attracted. (To date I have donated every cent this product has made to charity.)

3)	With regards to the SEO IS DEAD launch I wanted to generate around 800 sales of the video, and my intention was to use the money generated (my goal was about $50K nett) to build an SEO member site where I could show small business how to do their own SEO, and naturally something would have to pay for the development and admins to look after the project as I don’t have the time.

4)	The fact that the project did way more than I expected is amazing, and I am flattered, and I now have the resources to build the seo project I wanted to do without having to push sales to support it

5)	With regards to my income, I want to point out something that most people don’t know and that is that I run a company that has 80 full time employees, and 85% of our revenue is generated on products outside of the internet marketing community, and the reason I have not openly advertised what the SEO IS dead report did is because frankly I don’t want all the hype and expectation that comes long with it. (that’s why I limited access to the webinar).

One of my subscribers and good friends has pushed the point with me that I have done to much for free and giving to a fault creates an expectation to the point where people no longer respect your work or value your info, and that my dear friends is why I have progressed with this blog to where it is today.

The difference between me and the other stuff you see out there is that I own a very large business that has nothing to do with selling internet marketing to internet marketers, the fact that I am now charging people might change that who knows, but one thing wont, and that is that I will never sell anyone something they don’t need or that I personally don’t believe in, and that its what has taken my business to where it is today.

And THAT (@Werner) is why you have a "mentorship program" , so that you have 10 close buddies out there that will stick up for you no matter what. They will constantly tell people that what they are seeing is in fact not true, and that this is a "good guy" and the poor guy makes nothing out of it...

@Everyone
Anyway, just to bring all this gook back to a sane level: I'm NOT anti Justin in any way, shape of form.

I have said over and over that he is brilliant at what he is doing.

What I'm saying is that if you want to REALLY learn from him don't just LISTEN to what he tells you, but also OBSERVE what HE IS DOING, and follow / plan accordingly.

Good luck to you all (busy downloading the last few podcasts. In podcast 20 Justin says "it has never been my intention to motorize the online marketing industry"... well, oops. But great to know you can make R4mill without trying! Kudos again! )

And THAT (@Werner) is why you have a “mentorship program” , so that you have 10 close buddies out there that will stick up for you no matter what. They will constantly tell people that what they are seeing is in fact not true, and that this is a “good guy” and the poor guy makes nothing out of it…

@Everyone
Anyway, just to bring all this gook back to a sane level: I’m NOT anti Justin in any way, shape of form.

I have said over and over that he is brilliant at what he is doing.

What I’m saying is that if you want to REALLY learn from him don’t just LISTEN to what he tells you, but also OBSERVE what HE IS DOING, and follow / plan accordingly.

@ Werner Wichmann, firstly thank you for the link I missed the webinar.

@ John Gore, well holy %$#@# is all I can say, 4 million rands, that just to makes me want to follow everything he says even more.

And the fact that he does it without hard selling and thumping the product down your throat makes me a believer of his brilliance.

I just wonder Justin why are you not telling more people about your success, surely you would get even more followers?

And what percentage of your income comes from those 2 products?

Guys

To get back to the original point, trust me, Justin is the real deal and what he is offering here is not some BS program that will only take your money.

I too was sceptical when I first found out of the Upstart Program. But I can tell you with all honesty that choosing to be a part of this program is one of the best decisions I have made in my life.

You get a step by step plan to follow, which I can tell you is not available anywhere else, I have bought one hell of a lot of rubbish from various internet marketers before this program.

You get a sense of family, friendship and a support system from the rest of the guys in the group which is invaluable.

And on top of that I have learnt life lessons and business lessons which can be applied to any business away from the internet.

And its only the beginning of my journey! :-) How great is that!?

@Werner
Thanks for that link. I had not come across that yet. (sorry for using way off figures, they were just to illustrate the point). But Justin, BRiLLIANT stuff! Tons of Kudos!!

Thats, what? R4 000 000 (= FOUR MILLION RAND !!)
(not enough for you Deborah?)

Does the math work?...
10500 people viewed the pdf, 45% of which PURCHASED the 30min video at 97USD each (about R800).
45% of 10500 = 4725 people!
4725 x R800 each = R3 780 000

Considering there have surely been further sales since the feedback report, we can safely say he made:
R4 000 000 (= FOUR MILLION RAND !!) from this!

And on top of it all, you got Deborah Jones sitting there thinking this is not enough to "sustain you".

@Deborah Jones
You said: "I hardly think that his whole system is designed to sell me, how on earth could that be sustainable if he only has these two products over this amount of time."

...well, now you know.
Know you are starting to understand how the "big boys" do it.

And you have been following Justin for 3 years now you say? And you have not yet picked up on the fact that Justin made FOUR MILLION RAND off just 1 of those 2 products you mentioned.

Sorry, Deborah. I don't mean to be rude, but there are the facts. As you yourself said: "...he is really as you say brilliantly disguising his wicked sales pitch on us..." ... and I totally agree with you!

Justin, hats off to you buddy.

All fall in line now, and follow Mr Justin Harrison please...

@ John Gore I agree with what @ Deborah Jones says. I too have never felt "pitched" and I do feel Justin adds real value. Have I purchased anything from him, only the seo is dead report, and frankly I wish he would create and sell more stuff in the internet marketing community because frankly he is the first IM’er I’ve seen that actually delivers on his promise.

@ Werner, I saw the webinar, and this guy knows his stuff. I think everyone should just stop complaining and take whatever he provides :)

I would suggest you go here - http://www.justinharrison.com/internet-marketing-tips/marketing-strategies-revealed-webinar.php

download the webinar zip and I think you will be completely stunned to see what the real figures are for the SEO-IS-DEAD report as opposed to the ones you just thumbsucked.

@ John Gore, I truly have never felt like Justin has pitched anything at me ever, in most cases I feel he way undersold himself on the products that he has created.

I am only aware of 2, his split test book and the seo chapter video, both of which I bought, and I am under the impression he created these because there was a need for this information from his readers.

2 products, in 3 years (could be longer don’t know), I hardly think that his whole system is designed to sell me, how on earth could that be sustainable if he only has these two products over this amount of time.

Also the link video sales presentation for the seo video was hardly a sales pitch, if I recall correctly I am almost sure he said that this is not for everyone and that you can take it or leave (something to that affect).

So either he is really as you say brilliantly disguising his wicked sales pitch on us, or he simply is genuine. I have followed a bunch of people and every other day you get some damn affiliate offer or JV offer email from them, in all the time I have followed Justin never once have I seen him promote an affiliate offer that I can recall.

And I have never felt like I have been pitched on anything, if anything I trust his judgment as being totally unbiased.

So maybe I am missing something here?????

@Deborah Jones

You said "I have never been pitched or sold on anything".

Just a few days ago Justin launched (after a week of hype) the SEO is Dead report, which created controversy (brilliant) and stax of interest. Then a few hundred / thousand (?) people rushed off an downloaded the free version of the pdf file, and tweeted about it to all their followers (do the math, many thousands more got the tweets). Then at the end of the book... oh look. Its not quite free, I now need to fork out R800 or so to buy a 30min video clip. Everything up to this point has existed only to sell you this clip (the payday). If only 1% of the pdf readers go ahead and buy the R800 video, you are still looking at 100 or so sales. So Justin made a cool R80 000 in one go!

Nice!

I'm not saying its not worth the R800. Nor am I saying that Justin is doing anything wrong. I'm sure Justin's research and tips are great. But its not quite fair to say "I have NEVER been pitched or sold on ANYTHING".

Perhaps better working is "Justin is so good at Internet Marketing that I did not even REALIZE when he is pitching or selling something to me, and I promptly make a purchase before I realize what hit me"

In other words. Justin is brilliant! Kudos!

It is amazing that even though you have been around for as long as you have that you still have sceptics following you.

I guess that is the way things are when there is so much hype and false promises in the industry.

You are a brave man to extend you hand to help these people, I for one salute you and agree that it takes alot of hard work to succeed and as someone here has already said having the right mentor really can help.

@ Malcolm Pearson - these are interviews from the introduction 3 day workshop last year November (2008), but you are welcome to ask them questions as all of them are reading these posts and ready to comment.

I think they will all tell you that the course is like a serious initiation to the real side of online marketing and thereafter the hard work begins, most of them have found that the real learning only started once they had left the workshop.

These speakers all talk of the course in the last few days, I would imagine they have just attended one of the sections of the course. I would like to see how they are doing right now, adapting what they learnt to their own environment.

Cheers

Snap, thanks for the straight up response. :)

There was more unique & useful info in that 1 comment than I have managed to find on your whole website. I'm tired of reading "OM guru" websites full of the same stuff over and over (referring more to other sites that yours)

It must really sound like I'm trying to fight with you here, but please understand why. I've been there, done that, followed a number of these "I'm and OM guru that will give you all my secrets" courses, and they all turned out the same. They are going to benefit out of you in some way, FACT. But if they just tell you honestly, up front, then you can made a better decision to follow or not.

If your really want to build a strong circle of friends to form a tight knit community, which can JV on just about everything, and benefit each other, then I think you are definitely on the right track.

IMO: If the motives are right, the outcome is guaranteed.

(conversely, if the motives are wrong, time is sure to be wasted)

Well, I challenge you to take me on this path of yours. I already have half the skills, just need the glue to put it all together. You will see my app when the form is made available on Monday.

-- All this hype is getting ME excited now! --

Well, I challenge you to take me on this path of yours. I already have half the skills, just need the glue to put it all together. You will see my app when the form is made available on Monday.

– All this hype is getting ME excited now! –

Too many are floundering around without direction, and being blown to the four winds.

Not having communication with others in the same market and trying to learn and implement on ones own is an onerous task, in fact it is a path to self-destruction, (that is my personal opinion).

With our local problems (banking) and being a relatively "new" (online) market, a strong mentor is required.

Local is lekker - grow and build together - strength in numbers - more "heads" to give and get direction.

Justin I love your response to John Gore. The straight shooting, hard hitting way you present the facts is what sets you apart from your peers.

@ John Gore, if you have any doubt about Justin's authenticity let me tell you as someone who has followed him almost from his first blog post about online marketing, he has a real passion for helping the small guy, and I have never been pitched or sold on anything, I cant recall getting one affiliate offer ever from him.

So my advice, latch on, hold on, and never let him go!

Hi John, thanks for your comments, however you are completely off the mark...

1) I am not creating hype, the reason for me sharing these videos is to let you hear from members themselves what this program is about, rather than it coming from me.

2) There genuinely is an application process to be accepted (ONLY 10 WILL BE CHOSEN) as I am looking for very specific criteria as I don't get remunerated for my time that I provide to upstart members. My time is valuable and I don't plan on wasting it on people who wont follow the plan and do the work.

3) My business income is split as follows, 85% income from my own online projects outside of the IM to IM space and 15% providing SEO and consulting services to blue chip companies

I EARN ZERO for teaching local entrepreneurs!

4)There is a fee attached to the workshop IF YOU ARE ACCEPTED, because I sure don't plan on paying for 10 peoples accomodation and the other costs out of my own pocket.

5) The reason I am doing this is that I want to grow a strong local IM community where we are all on the same level sharing and interacting, and with the first group I have already achieved this.

Does this set you straight?

Create the hype, the feeling of being left out, the feeling of perhaps not even being worthy of being "accepted" to the program, then BAM! Please deposit you $$$ to this bank account, and all the little sheep go and do it. (brilliant, you're doing all the right stuff Justin)

My question is not "does it work" (Im a believer there), but if you have something that works so well, then why go teach others?

What I'd like to see is the figures / ratio between how much $$ Justin makes TEACHING and how much he makes DOING. My gues is that teaching it is quicker cash than the actual OM "business" he builds.

Sorry if that sounds a little harsh, just saying what rational minds everywhere are thinking.

Seems Derek you echo strongly what Werner says about this being a complete plan, just wonder though if the plan really is that solid that you can afford to follow every step without question?

The thing that stands out from the first two interviews for me is that the program seems to focus people on the task. My problem is that I am all over the show doing like 10 things at a time, so I think the structure would be valuable.
