lol I see the saying has moved to the podcast as well "Click click %$#". Really nice podcast. It's something that's been lacking in my own life as well so i guess now is a good time to start

Great reminder, thanks.
Everybody slips on goals, tasks and setting plans in place. I know I don't do the planning, I set the goals, and am constantly aware of the goal and what I need to do, but hash the time together in the day. It is a bad habit, and I must pull myself out of it.
Here's to planning.
Thanks for the podcast.

Great reminder, go back and reassess what you have accomplished, but also plan forward. Working toward a goal is easier than floundering around without direction.
Good to have you back and look forward to the 2010 podcasts.

Morning All.
Wow i am glad I never needed to be slapped on the upside of the head. I do plan and do goal setting all the time.
Sadly i do also allow distractions all the time. (like listening to your podcast)
however i now build this distraction time into my day. I allow a 2 hour hole, and this gives me freedom and still keep up with the plan.
Tom Hopkins taught me to set goals and then to reduce this to a daily task / action plan.
His teaching works so well that all you need to do is finish your daily tasks to be hugely successful.
to use a cliche, how do you eat an elephant?

Interesting, very different. I like it, straight to the point and informative.
One thing: I'm using headphones, the intro music was so loud that I had to put my volume down and when Justin started to speak I had to turn it back up. Needs a little tuning
Thanks for the work you guys are doing!

Heheh, click click …
Yeah, great podcast guys, well done.
Failing to plan is like planning to fail. I'm also (in)famous for writing huge amounts plans, goals, schemes down, but not following them to the tee or just forgetting about them.
The other thing I picked up as crucial from you is the actual STEPS NEEDED.
Time to get busy …

Thank you for this. This is informative and useful, I like the positiveness of this podcast also, which makes it different from the other podcasts here that I had listened to.

Just listened to the podcast again to get a better idea of the planning the daily map. As I promised myself to start planning as of today!
You mention planning for the day to achieve your tasks, in which you allocated time slots to each. I think you should use the phrase "Time mapping" for the daily time slots for achieving your tasks which are part of your goals.
Set the Yearly Goal, then Monthly Goal, then Weekly Goal, then each day a Daily Goal – THEN plan your tasks for the day – THEN do Time Mapping, which breaks down the tasks into bite sizes. (I like the term Rob gave "Eat the elephant one bite at a time!")
To start work with rough estimates ie. hours or half hour slots, as you get more experience with it, you should become more accurate.
A sample "Time Map" might help the listeners.

Hi Malcolm, very good points indeed. I usually sit and map things out by hand (pen and paper) and then I transfer that into Google Tasks in combination with Google Calander to keep me on track. I wont get into this too much right now because I actually have a vlog planned where I will show my process step by step.
But what you have just said is very accurate, break your actionable tasks down into small half hour segments, and also leave enough time in your day or rather allocate time in your day for stuff like reading, research, etc.

Yip, it's taking the actual steps and planning them that most people miss.
