Find an Intern Position as a Virtual Assistant

Finding an intern position as a virtual assistant is a great idea for anyone who is considering becoming a virtual assistant. .  It’s a great way to learn the ropes about the industry.  Interning as a virtual assistant is also a great way to make a little extra money if you’re currently a student.

Here’s how to find a Virtual Assistant Internship.

Job boards.  The internet has myriad uses, as of course you already know.  One of them is to find employees and vice versa to find a job or internship.  Search job boards for internships.  There are job boards directed specifically for the virtual assistant field, job boards for work at home businesses, college job boards, and even good old freelance job boards.  Monster.com even offers a special “Internships” section on their massive job board.

Search engines.  A quick entry of “Virtual Assistant Internships” will turn up thousands of results.  You’ll find job postings on blogs, forums, chat rooms and more.  Many of them will be dated so a quick search to weed those out.  There will be a few ‘nuggets’ worth applying for.

Network.  There are a number of membership sites, forums, chat rooms and blogs dedicated to both virtual assistants and the work at home or internet based community.  These are valuable places to meet and learn.  They’re also an excellent place to find resources including employment opportunities and internships.

Check your local papers and university publications.  Internships are most often found advertised with your local colleges and universities – even the virtual ones.  Many educational institutions offer both online publications and print – check both.  Career Services is generally a great place to start.

Contact other virtual assistants.  Busy virtual assistants are always turning down work or referring to others.  Contact virtual assistants to see if they’re in need of an intern.  It’s a great way to learn the business from a pro and an excellent way to make connections in the industry.

There are many great virtual assistant internship opportunities out there, use your skills and resources to uncover the one that is right for you.

Someone who is a skilled, accomplished administrative assistant in the real world doesn’t need to intern. They can command full professional fees at the helm of their own business doing work they love for clients they adore.
