Imagine getting to wet your appetite for podcasting and get paid for it? That’s what an internship as a podcaster can provide. Finding an intern position as a podcaster is a great idea for anyone who is considering becoming a podcaster or anyone who is considering a career in communication, radio, and more. It’s a great way to learn the ropes about the industry.
Here’s how to find a podcasting internship.
Start with your local universities and colleges. Many times when someone is seeking an intern, whether virtual or office based, they’ll begin their search at the career services department of nearby colleges and universities. Additionally, you can sign up to have relevant job posting emailed to you so you’ll be made aware all new positions.
Online Job boards. Search online job boards for podcasting internships. There are job boards directed specifically for the internet based opportunities and industries as well as general job boards. For example both Monster and Careerbuilder have separate internship fields to search. Freelance job boards like elance also offer potential internships.

Search engines. A quick entry of “Podcaster or Podcasting Internships” will turn up a ton of results. You’ll find links to internship postings on blogs, forums, chat rooms and even posted on individual websites. Many of the internships will have expired however using advanced search features will let you sort results by posting date, leaving you with only the most recent posted internships.
Network. There are a number of membership sites, forums, chat rooms and blogs dedicated to podcasting and podcasters as well as the internet based business industry as a whole. These are valuable places to both learn about the industry as well as learn about any internship opportunities that are available. It’s also a great place to build relationships for the future.
Connect with other podcasters. Busy freelance podcasters may be able to hire you on as an intern or know someone who is hiring. Again, it often goes back to becoming part of the community and networking.
Start a podcast of your own and get the word out that you’re for hire. If you show that you’re already capable of being a podcaster by publishing a regular podcast, then internships may come to you.
Podcasting internship opportunities are plentiful if you know where to look and are willing to become part of the podcasting culture and community.
