Google Announces 1GB Fibre to Homes in the USA
Google has announced plans to put 1 GB fibre connections into more than 50,000 homes in the USA and I suspect it has something to do with wanting more of a push for cloud based services. For those of you who are still confused that’s up to 100 times faster internet access than American’s are already used to.
Google PLEASE come to South Africa.
So what do you think?

This video has taken more than 10 minutes to load!!! Just shows you how much we need it here!
1Gig should make just about everything available via the link – video, TV, video conferencing.
I agree, Google should look for a 3rd world country somewhere at the tip of Africa for a remote case study!

The 1GB Fibre Network will certainly help Google with 'organising the world's information' better. With higher speeds you could run communication / information to absolutely any device in a household, including the fridge (milk replenishment) and kitchen sink (blockage notification to local plumber). Weren't Google playing around with household appliances not too long ago for energy saving purposes? Additionally you could have a completely remote controlled home on the 1GB Fibre Network. We're getting there…
You can already get everything over a link – TV, Broadband, Video and Telephone. Virgin are doing it in the UK as well.

One day maybe we will have this in SA, but somehow I doubt it.

Justin, imagine how we could kickstart an e-conomy with just 100th of what they're about to put into those homes ;-(

Absolutely agree with you.
