One can be forgiven for thinking South Africans have woken up in the twilight zone, after years of complaining, we finally got the two things we wanted most… PayPal in South Africa and Uncapped ADSL – and this past week has seen both happen all at once.

I have just come off the most exhilarating internal audit in years, in fact I was so pumped I seem to have missed that a full 26 hours just buzzed past.
I am the first to confess that the word “audit” used to invoke visions of me stabbing some pencil pushing accountant through the neck with a ball point pen, but that was until I met a remarkable businessman 7 years ago who completely changed my opinion and outlook on “auditing”.

Google has announced plans to put 1 GB fibre connections into more than 50,000 homes in the USA and I suspect it has something to do with wanting more of a push for cloud based services. For those of you who are still confused that’s up to 100 times faster internet access than American’s are already used to.

There have been rumours that PayPal is coming to South Africa and that they will be teaming up with FNB under their banking license to make this possible.
