Article Marketing Tips

Article marketing has become a popular method of marketing which is not surprising considering its benefits. These include increased visibility and credibility for you as the marketer as well as increased traffic to your website and consequently a higher search engine ranking.

Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your article marketing campaign:

Content:

Unfortunately the success of article marketing has led to an emphasis on quantity rather than quality. But the value of the content of the article is an essential ingredient for attracting and retaining readers. People search the internet for information. Keep your articles informative and interesting and they will keep coming back for more.

Variety:

Without deviating from the focus of your website, that is, the product or service you are offering, consider the number of perspectives from which you can approach your topics. A variety of articles written around your target niche will help to attract a larger audience.

Short and sweet:

Variety is good, verbosity is not. On-line articles should be kept short and to the point. in order to hold your readers’ attention.

Heading:

Your title will determine whether or not the prospective reader will deign to look at your article. Make sure your heading gives them a good reason to do so.

Keywords:

Do a bit of research on using keywords and phrases before writing your articles. The words your readers are likely to type into the search engine to find the information you provide need to be targeted in your article. However, be careful to maintain a balance here. Too many keywords and your article will sound stilted and unnatural, too few and the search engines are unlikely to pick it up.

Organizing:

Well organized content with bullets or numbers when appropriate helps to get your point across and makes the article more readable.

Proofreading:

First proofread your article yourself. Sloppy writing, spelling and grammatical errors reflect badly on you as the writer and by association on your product or service. Then ask friends, family or colleagues to read through the article and listen carefully to their comments. Even a small improvement can make a difference to the way the article is viewed by your readers.

Publishing:

If you have one, the first and most obvious place to post your article is on your own website. This helps to strengthen the content of the site and builds trust and credibility with your visitors.

Use article directories:

Then take advantage of the number of visitors who regularly visit the popular online article directories by submitting your articles to them. These include www.ezinearticles.com, www.web-source.net and www.articlealley.com.

Resrouces box:

Use a resource box in your article which describes your website and links back to it.

Use forums:

Make use of social networking by visiting forums and discussion boards. Post portions of your articles or refer to an article title to generate interest. Be sure to include your website address.

Link your articles:

In addition to the above suggestions you can also place links in your article to other articles you have written on the same subject. This cross referencing helps to build a loyal cartel of readers. If you have affiliates let them use your articles as well and promote them for you.

Finally, since you have spent a great deal of time and energy producing quality, informative articles why not compile them into an e-book which you can distribute through your website, making them available to your readers on a permanent basis?

Contents and marketing these contents can help the business, but it should be remembered that this marketing is labor-intensive.

    These are all great tips!

There is one thing that irks me about most article directories, which is the fact that they allow anyone to copy your work. So far I’ve just found one (looks pretty new) that lets you add a copyright notice with Creative Commons http://www.akgmag.com/ .

ANyone know of any other sites that give you some control over your copyright?

Of course, if someone wants to steal your article they will no matter what. It seems though if you can at least put a notice on your article that would be very useful.

To really put article marketing on steroids, I use Unique Article Wizard which sends out unique copies of your article to hundreds of article directories and blogs at whatever pace you tell it to. You get tons of back links to your site, you can rank for pretty much any long tail keyword phrase you want, and no worries about duplicate content. My results have been great.

    Cheers,
    Doc
