How to add AdSense to your site
Google AdSense allows website owners to generate revenue by displaying sponsored advertisements on their sites. By automatically checking the web page on which the advert is displayed Google ensures that it is relevant to the site content.
AdSense provides a number of advertisement formats, either image or text based and is relatively easy to implement. If you wish to take advantage of AdSense just follow the steps below:
Step 1
Because the Google AdSense team reviews your website to check the content before it will accept your application you have to have a working site up and running before you apply. An ‘under construction” page will not do, you need a launched website with acceptable content and a valid URL. Once you have a functional site in place you are ready to apply to AdSense.
Step 2
Apply to Google AdSense by clicking on the following address: https://www.google.com/adsense/g-app-single-1 Once you have applied you will receive an email from Google verifying your email address and thanking you for signing up for Google AdSense.
The message will include a link for you to follow. Clicking on the link will send your application to the Google AdSense team who will then review your website. This could take from 2 days to a week, depending on the number of applications received, so be patient! After checking your site Google will send another email to you telling you that your site has been accepted and providing you with a link to the same Google AdSense site you used to sign up for AdSense.
Step 3
The next step is to log into your Google AdSense account using the password you selected when you signed up. Once you have done so you will be taken to a page where you can get your AdSense Code. Click on ‘AdSense Setup’, and then on ‘AdSense for Content’. There are other options, such as ‘AdSense for Search’ and ‘Referrals’ which you can pursue later.
Clicking on AdSense for Content takes you to a page where you can choose the type of advert you want, whether text or image. Click on ‘ad unit’ and scroll to the type of advert you want, then click on ‘continue’. Now choose the format you would like – it is best at this stage to keep it simple, you can always change it later if your prefer – and then the colours. Click continue again and you will get a page on which you can add the title of your website.
Once you have customized your advertisements you will be given some HTML code to cut and paste into your site.
Step 4
Copy the whole code and then paste it into the body of your website where you want it to appear, between the body tags of your HTML. If your page uses Frames the code should be pasted into the frame which contains the page’s main content. Now you are ready to benefit from the adverts Google sends to your site.
Step 5
Some time after you have earned more than the equivalent of $10 Google will send you a card containing your PIN number which you have to use just once
to log into your AdSense account before you can start receiving your payments.
